CHA CHA

The Cha Cha is an exciting syncopated Latin dance which originated in nineteen-fifties Cuba as a slowed down Mambo. The Cha Cha inherits its sassy personality from both Mambo and Swing. Most people are familiar with the rhythm as 2 - 3 cha-cha-cha from countless cartoons, sitcoms and movies.

Like Bachata, Cha Cha can be danced to Latin, Latin Pop and Contemporary pop music. It is played between Salsa sets to slow the action and give the dancers a break!  It is a versatile dance to have in your repertoire.

We teach basic and intermediate level Cha Cha. We highly recommend that first time students begin with the Basic level class. Without some fluency in the basics, it is difficult to learn the more complicated movements. To learn more about our class schedule check here.

We suggest that you take at least three classes to get a sense of our teaching style. We have found that it takes about twelve classes to develop some proficiency with the basic footwork.
